2020 Chevy Corvette Stingray Safety Features
When the time came to redesign the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, Chevrolet threw away the rulebook and reimagined what a classic sports car could be. The new Chevrolet Corvette has some new tricks up its sleeve, including a mid-engine layout and some safety features that have never appeared in a Chevy vehicle wearing the Corvette badge.
Chevrolet Safety Features and How They Work
There are two kinds of safety features, each of which works in different ways. Passive safety features are old standbys like seatbelts, airbags, antilock breaks, and electronic stability control. These features restrain the body or limit the consequences of a crash.
Active safety features work differently. These features are designed to warn against or prevent collisions and take active steps to lessen the impact if your reflexes are not quick enough to respond.
Chevrolet Active Safety Features
2020 is the first model year that the Chevrolet Corvette gets active safety features. Not only does it have a V8 engine that produces 495 horsepower, but it also boasts a performance exhaust in the ZF package. Here are some of the systems coming soon to Mike Anderson Chevrolet of Merrillville that work to keep you safe with this enhanced degree of performance.
Standard safety features on all trims include a Valet Mode that locks the trunk and glove box, and a Teen Driver mode that provides parents with geofencing capabilities. There are also signal indicators on the rearview mirrors, a rearview camera, rear park assist, and a tire pressure and temperature monitor.
If you step up to the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 2LT and 3LT trim levels, you’re offered a color head-up display that puts key performance data right in your line of site, limiting distracted driving. It can also adjust your driving mode, giving you speed limit data in Tour mode, a G-force indicator in Tour mode, and metrics like lap time in Track mode.
